I have lived in Hatton for since 1977. I am married to Dianne, who was born in Hatton herself and have four children - Leigh Carl, Shane and Cassie along with two pet cavalier King Charles spaniels, Poppy and Lillie. I now have 10 Grandchildren who all live locally so supporting and local school is important to me.
I was a local milkman for seven years and for the last 26 years I have run my own taxi business in Hatton. I am active in making our area a safe and friendly place to live; I work closely with and support our local police and PCSOs and I regularly attend Safer Neighbourhood Partnership (Crime and Disorder) and other local area meetings. I received a bravery award in 1999 at Derbyshire police HQ for rescuing a local mum and her 3 children from an overturned vehicle in a waterlogged ditch in Hatton and I am proud that I was there and able to save lives.
I enjoy dealing with residents' issues and I believe in keeping the community spirit in our villages alive, I support community events in Hatton which help bring the residents of Hatton closer together and keep our village life alive. I am Chairman of the Hatton Village Carnival and through The Carnival committees Community fund have been able to help many local groups' organisations and individuals in Hatton. I regularly get involved in local fund raising and bring a smile to many of our little ones faces each Christmas with Santa around the Village
I have worked closely with the Environment Agency in achieving the flood defences we now have, keeping all our homes safe from the flooding we had in November 2000.
I am committed to the following issues. Support the local School, Church organisations and other groups to help keep our community together. Better common sense recycling facilities to help keep our streets clean. Support more police funding for the area. Aid to fight crime and disorder in Hatton. Support any activities which will help to give our children and teenagers a sense of belonging to our village - our children are the future of Hatton. I am working tirelessly with local land owners and developers to bring to reality a Hatton Industrial relieve road to alleviate the Heavy traffic from our village without penalising our local businesses. As vice chairman of the Environment and Development committee I am committed to help local Business, Industry and local enterprise in the area to create more new jobs in our community.
