Councillor Mrs. Amy Plenderleith

I have lived in South Derbyshire for over ten years, and settled in Hilton in 2003 with my husband Graeme. We have three children; the younger two attend Hilton Primary School and the eldest attends John Port. I enjoy being involved in village life. As well as being a District Councillor, I am actively involved with the Hilton ‘Party on the Park’ Committee, sit on the Governing Body of Hilton Primary School as a Community Governor and chair the Advisory Group for Etwall’s Surestart Children’s Centre. I was a Parish Councillor between January 2005 and September 2008. I was elected by the people of Hilton to serve as a District Councillor in May 2007. I share the frustrations of many villagers who have seen little investment in the infrastructure of Hilton, despite the large housing developments. I am committed to improving this situation and hope to bring a fresh perspective to planning within the village. I was Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee at SDDC between May 2009 and 2011, and continue to attend Planning meetings when local matters are discussed. Having headed a successful Overview & Scrutiny project to bring next generation broadband to several exchanges in South Derbyshire, I became Chairman of Overview & Scrutiny in May 2011. I have a continued interest in improving broadband services across the District and have joined the County Council’s Broadband Champions scheme. In April 2012, as Chairman of Scrutiny, I was nominated as the District Council’s representative to sit on Derbyshire’s Police and Crime Panel.
