I was born in 1948 and am a Sociology graduate of Reading University with two grown-up sons.
I spent most of my working life in the Timber Trade and after taking early retirement was elected as a District Councillor in May 2007.
I am Chairman of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the Melbourne Area Forum, and a substitute on the Planning committee.
I also serve on the Board of Mid Mercia Citizens Advice and on the Board of Trustees of Bank House in Swadlincote, a drop-in centre for people with mental health problems.
My spare time interests are, walking, reading, world music and enjoying life in Melbourne and Kings Newton.
I am Secretary of The Thomas Cook Memorial Cottages in the village, a group of Almshouses.
I am available to talk to constituents on the phone at all reasonable times before 10pm and together with my fellow Councillor for Melbourne and Kings Newton, Martyn Fitzpatrick, hold a "surgery" for face to face consultations on the first Saturday of every month from 11am to 12 noon at Melbourne Leisure Centre. We will do our best to help and advise you.
